What would travel be without the joy of discovering new flavours? Love without the first gaze? Cashmere without feeling its softness on the skin?
The senses.
They are the source of all perception, yet we still view them as irrational.
Underestimated and undervalued.
In a world of facts and information overload, we so often forget about the senses and, confronted with overstimulation, seek places of calmness. What if we didn’t have to visit such places, but could live in one?
That place is Ukryte.
1. An intimate apartment complex in a neighbourhood of academic buildings and the 19th-century Steffens Park.
2. A residential concept created for those searching for the centuries-old idyll of a tranquil and stable home.
3. A dream location in a secluded district of Gdańsk with a beautiful history.

Silence. It is the first thing you hear.
You are within reach of the centre of a big city, a few minutes from a road that will connect you with any place you want to go to, and you hear... yes, that’s it – silence. After a while, the rustle of trees, the singing of birds and the sounds of the meadow reach you – the chirping of crickets, the croaking of frogs. Here, nature takes precedence.
The sound of oaks and a concert of dozens of different species of birds: Ukryte is located approximately two kilometres from the Tricity Landscape Park and its buffer zone, so tune in – this is the sound of sycamore, oak, willow, birch, walnut, ash and a strictly protected species: Swedish whitebeam. You are in the treehouse of your wildest dreams, for it is located on a hill and therefore surrounded by the crowns of lush, perennial trees – a refuge for more than 25 species of birds. This apartment complex does not only belong to you. You have roommates who, at any time of the day or year, will remind you how soothing the sounds of nature are – they are worth rediscovering for yourself and your loved ones.
A silence that demands attentiveness: Ukryte owes its name to its charming location at the end of a gated street that winds up a tree-lined road, passing villas and stately academic buildings. It’s an address that’s hard to find because it’s off-limits to traffic. The silence here is possible to feel because the space has been freed from cars, for which the architects have provided underground parking. Stop for a moment, can you feel the bliss?
Aniołki – a Gdańsk gem worth discovering: A villa district with excellent transport connections and an even richer history. Few know that it was here that the first public demonstration of electric lighting in Gdańsk took place. Overlooked for years, with the expansion of the university buildings, it is now gaining the respect it deserves.
Inhale gentleness. Feel its power.
Beauty makes us feel better. Greenery soothes us, proportions calm us, harmony creates an orderly atmosphere. Ukryte has been designed so that your sense of sight, exposed each day to screens, garish images and the chaos of urbanisation, finally finds respite through connecting with a space that is a considered composition. A composition free of linear, unnatural anthropocentrism, and geared towards symbiosis with nature.
Intimacy: Look around – you are surrounded by sloping villa roofs, stately buildings, centuries-old trees. Everything here – architecture, nature, everyday life – merges, melts together, resonates. Now Ukryte has become part of it. It is named so for a reason – the nine low, three-storey buildings with pitched roofs do not dominate or stand out. They are a fluid part of this enthralling landscape.
Naturalness and geometry: Contrast is perhaps the most difficult art form. It requires a great deal of knowledge, a great deal of preparation and an intuition that can only come from experience and passion. Ukryte is, on the one hand, natural materials such as concrete and charred wood, and on the other, geometric forms – dormers, glass cubicles, protruding corner windows and bay windows. Here, geometry has been set on a naturally shaped, irregular plot, where sharp volumes co-exist with organic raw materials.
An architect and a love story: Ukryte is more than an investment, it is a concept born out of love for Gdańsk – this unique place in Europe, where unassuming nature, a strong city, proud history and electrifying modernity all constantly intermingle. That is why Marek Łańcucki of MAARTE studio is responsible for the design of Ukryte. He is a creator who perfectly understands the Tricity’s heritage and operates with an architectural language that is always both a tribute to and a new version of the existing surroundings. A new beginning, waiting for you.
Naturalness that you can experience through touch – the most intimate of the senses.
Almost all the elements used in the interiors, both in the communal spaces and in the separate areas, are of natural origin. And although they are kept in a coherent, warm colour scheme – evoking obvious associations with the clarity of amber – they simultaneously allow you to experience a multiplicity of structures. Cohesion without monotony. Harmony in multiplicity. You can touch them, feel the exciting ambiguity beneath your fingertips.
Rawness – cold, expressive and chic: Raw textures bring elegance to natural interiors and, through the contrast created, stimulate the senses, bringing them to life. This is why some of Ukryte’s furnishings are made of materials reminiscent of a sheet of glacial water. Take the stainless steel closet, whose rippling surface of cold material is magnetic, drawing attention. These strong accents have an energising effect, breaking up the omnipresent bliss.
Gentleness – warm, homely, embracing: Gentleness requires no compromises. It does not recognise consensus, and any falseness disrupts it effectively. Ukryte therefore consistently offers a plethora of the finest natural materials, forms and techniques. As you enter its interiors, you will feel the veneered cladding on the walls and the organic shapes of the sofas, which are not constrained by excessive modularity or rigid geometry. Also synonymous with gentleness is care, which is why Ukryte’s interiors are full of handcrafted objects, such as chiselled walnut with ash handles on the furniture in the club areas, woven TENCEL™ fibre carpets for a spectacular sheen and exceptional softness, and Tekiò lamps carefully encased in handmade paper.
Coolness – distanced, timeless, out-of-reach: There are pieces whose strength lies not in the fact that they draw attention, but because they do not allow themselves to be forgotten. They are accessories made with extraordinary precision and from superior materials. For this reason, a series of lamps was selected for Ukryte, inspired by the materiality of the same marble used to build the Taj Mahal. This hard surface resembles a fingerprint and has therefore fascinated architects, sculptors and designers for millennia. It is a dream material – strong yet tactile, heavy and durable. Each lamp is made from a combination of white Morwad marble and lustrous brass elements.

ORGANIC SHAPES: Trends come and go, fashion becomes passé. What remains unchanged, what successfully resists the urges of the moment and preserves the timeless power of influence, is the classic – the perfection of proportions and textures. Organic shapes in furniture-making did not appear in our homes with the Space Age trend or the earlier Bauhaus, but date back to the early 19th century. Ukryte’s interiors draw on this heritage. Examples include the aforementioned sofas and the unique Mellow table, designed by Bartoli Design and characterised by soft, curvilinear forms, both imposing and sculptural – as its name suggests. Mellow was created to be the focal point of the space, inviting shared moments.
GREAT NAMES: Who among us doesn’t dream of a Le Corbusier-designed LC4 chaise longue in the living room or a Bond Aston Martin DB5 in the garage? There are everyday objects that, thanks to the immense talent of their makers, become design icons over time. This is why it is so important to keep a close eye on young, promising creators, follow their development and, when the time is right, invest in their works. Examples of the former include the CH37 Dining Chair designed by Hans J. Wegner in 1962, which is clearly inspired by the furniture principles of the American Shaker Style – simplicity, functionality and craftsmanship. The CH37 also exhibits many carefully considered details, which is characteristic of Wegner. An example of the latter is the LichterTrichter lamps hanging in the lounge area, created by the young Munich-based designer Christoph Matthias, which resemble a bright funnel suspended from three thin steel cables. The textile cover emits a soft, gentle and relaxing light.
AMBER IS GOLD: We are in Gdańsk – a charming city shining in the imaginations of millions with golden shades of amber. That’s why the table will be made from distinctive yellow-cream Giallo Siena stone, sourced from Italy. This table, with its heavily scalloped, chiselled texture, is made from a block of stone, its sides are irregular and raw, and its top surface is satiny and brushed smooth. It provides another strong accent in the ascetic interiors, alongside natural grounded curtains and hand-woven carpets. For good taste is never one-dimensional – it is always a complex composition that resonates as it is discovered.
